In these rules: Why we have rules, fair play, roleplay basics, crime and law enforcement, gang rules, elections and the Mayor's office, building and props, staff, enforcement.
Why we have rules
Every rule here is about keeping the server fun for everyone. If a rule stops doing that, it gets cut. If something comes up that isn't covered below, ask yourself if what you're doing is ruining someone else's time on the server. That's the same question staff will be asking.
Staff won't pull you into a sit for every little thing. Small in-character conflicts are part of the game. These rules are here for the stuff that has nothing to do with roleplay, like random killing, exploiting, and anything that makes people want to log off.
The list is short on purpose. A lot of things are already handled by the server itself. You can't sell drugs without the right occupation, you can't become a cop through F4, and switching occupations takes away the equipment from your old one. If the server already stops you from doing something, we didn't bother writing a rule for it.
Fair play
No RDM (Random Deathmatch). You need an actual reason to kill someone. Self-defense always counts. You can even roleplay as a serial killer if you want, just try to make it somewhat realistic.
No RDA (Random Arrest). Police need a real reason to arrest someone, like a crime they saw, a warrant, or someone refusing a lawful order. Looking suspicious doesn't count.
New Life Rule (NLR). Don't raid the same base twice, and don't go after someone just because they killed you.
No metagaming. Don't use information your character wouldn't know. That includes things you saw in Discord, things a friend told you out of character, or someone's real name.
Don't raid bases that are still being built if they have a building sign up.
No exploiting. Using bugs, glitches, or Lua errors to get an advantage counts as cheating, even if you didn't mean to.
No third-party software. That means aimbots, ESP, and macros beyond simple keybinds.
Trying to crash the server or doing anything else malicious will get you permanently banned.
No hate speech, racism, sexism, or harassment of any kind.
Roleplay basics
Your occupation is your identity. The server already makes it pointless to hop between occupations to collect equipment. There's a cooldown, you can't switch in the middle of a fight, and switching takes back anything your old occupation gave you. So just pick the one you actually want to play.
No intention to roleplay (FailRP). Don't act in a way no real person would, like ignoring a gun pointed at you, walking through a locked door because "it's just a game," or walking away from a mugging. This one has some wiggle room and you're allowed to defend yourself. Just put some effort in so the other person gets a good scenario too.
Stay in character during roleplay. If you need to argue about rules or mechanics, take it to OOC chat or the forums.
Don't mic spam or verbally abuse other players.
Crime and law enforcement
Only players with the Criminal occupation can use certain NPCs (Shady Guy by Motel) and can also purchase items from the Gun Shop's "Back Room" section. Other occupations can still commit illegal acts and have deals with criminals.
Raids need a reason. You can raid a base, business, or home if you have a valid roleplay reason, like a crime you saw, a gang conflict, or a warrant. Finding an unlocked door doesn't count.
Corrupt cops are allowed. Just know you can be demoted if you get caught.
Mugging and kidnapping. Don't ask for crazy amounts of money nobody could actually pay. If you're the one being mugged or kidnapped, roleplay it out. You can fight back, but try to keep it somewhat realistic.
Warrants and searches. Police can search and raid your home if there's a warrant out for your arrest, or if the Mayor has ordered searches.
Gang rules
Use /gang in-game to start a gang. You'll get your own ranks, a shared agenda, and a spot on the public leaderboard.
Gangs are for giving your members a shared identity and goals. Using one as an excuse to mass RDM will be dealt with.
Gang fights need a roleplay reason just like any other conflict. A rivalry counts. Being in a different gang isn't enough on its own.
If you lead a gang, you're responsible for what it does. You can't start one and then ignore what your members are doing under your tag.
Elections and the Mayor's office
The Mayor is voted in by the players, so take running for office and serving your term seriously.
Vote buying, voting with alt accounts, or pressuring people out of character to swing an election is against the rules.
The Mayor has real authority over police policy. Abusing that power as soon as you're elected can get you removed from office.
If you lose an election, take it gracefully. The same goes for dying in office and losing your term. That's the risk that comes with the job.
Building and props
No prop climbing, prop surfing, prop pushing, or blocking doors and chokepoints with props.
Don't build anything that lags the server, like huge numbers of entities or physics-heavy contraptions in public areas.
Respect building signs. A base that's still being built can't be raided like a finished one.
Staff
No staff abuse. Staff should never use their powers to get an advantage in-game or to harass players. If you have proof of staff abuse, make a staff report on the forums or reach out to the server owner on Steam or Discord.
Try to handle things in roleplay first. Staff sits are for rule breaks. If you just didn't like how a situation turned out, try to work it out in character. Police can and should handle situations the way real police would. If someone is mass RDMing, let staff know right away.
Enforcement
Minor offenses (spam, minor FailRP)
First time: verbal warning
Repeat: kick
Moderate offenses (RDM, RDA, metagaming)
First time: warning
Repeat: temporary ban
Severe offenses (exploiting, mass RDM, hate speech)
First time: temporary ban
Repeat: permanent ban
Staff can use their judgment depending on the situation. Breaking a rule to get out of a genuinely messed-up situation will be treated differently from breaking one just to grief.
